Remix Video

With this assignment, I want you to deeply affect some imagery and audio. The footage can be something that you have found, or something that you have made yourself. Either way, I want the footage to be affected so much that it is profoundly transformed from the original material.

To achieve this, I want you to abandon notions of what is representational, what looks good, what makes sense and what works in any traditional or narrative sense. Instead, work playfully and intuitivly. Experiment deeply. By this I mean:

Slow the clips down and/or stretch them out.
Make very short edits, of only several frames or so.
Layer music and images over each other.
Don't think in terms of music or stories but just images and sounds.

For the first week I want you to edit some clips together.
These might just be three of four clips a few seconds each.

In the second week these will be screened and the class will discuss them. From this feedback you can collect ideas from the class about how to affect them further. I want you each to arrive at about 30 seconds to 2 minutes of significantly original material.
You will be assessed on:

Experimentation.
Originality.

Your ability to communicate and provide feedback within a group environment.
Your ability to create and or intervene in a video/audio work

Embed your video into your blog. Write up the ideas, process and the feedback for this project in a blog post of at least 300 words.

This project is due on Friday 21st September and counts for 20% of your final grade.
